Ply e essas coisas... / Ply and those things...

Este post não vai fazer sentido nenhum na parte em que a tradução é feita para inglês mas enfim… quem fala inglês já sabe a diferença, quem fala português também a sabe mas é preciso pôr os pontos nos “i’s”…

No primeiro encontro de tricot (lindo lindo lindo!!!) surgiu uma duvida… “To ply or not to ply…”, o que é que significa “ply” quando lemos as características de um fio?...

É a mesma coisa de “ver” e “olhar”, “ouvir” e “escutar”, “ply” é o numero de “fios” que compõem o “fio”! Errrrr… *risos*!!

Hoje à hora de almoço, vi a luz!!! Não se preocupem, o almoço estava bom, eu é que estou sempre aluada e desde que o garfo entre em piloto automático, o resto do corpo tem “liberdade condicional” para divagar em pensamentos…

A minha sugestão: “ply”, o “fio” que compõe a “linha”!!! ou seja, vários fios compõem uma linha, vários “ply” compõem a “yarn”!!!

Opiniões?... Alguém?...

On our first knitting meeting (amazing amazing amazing!!!) there was a doubt… “To ply or not to ply…”, what does “ply” mean when we read yarn descriptions?...

It is the same as “look” and “see”, “hear” and “listen”, ply is the number of items that make an item! Errrrr. *laughs*!!

Today during luch break I saw the light!!! No worries, lunch was just fine, I’m always daydreaming and as long as the fork is in auto-pilot, the rest of the body is in “parole” to free daydream…

My suggestion: “ply” is (and this is where the English translation starts making no sense at all…) the number of “ply” that make “a thread. Meaning thar several ply make a thread (yarn).

Opinions?... Anyone?...
